Living Paradox

Validated and invigorated by the reactions to their debut, 'The Violent Heart', Comb set out to push some boundaries and expand their artistic vocabulary, while also diving deeper into their own internal worlds. The result - 'Living Paradox' - is an intimately personal album of surprising variety.

'Living Paradox' explores the daily conflicts of the modern artist, torn between romantic ideas of self realization and the harsh, sobering reality of life in an increasingly suffocating world. The songs follow the artist through the luminous joy of creation, the hellish depths of depression, and the everyday battle to keep on going.

Musically, 'Living Paradox' explores a wide range of moods and styles, bending and fusing genres to create an eclectic, yet cohesive body of work: From crushing odd-time metal riffs and jam-packed compositions, to subtle ambient soundscapes and Post-Rock slow-burns - 'Living Paradox' is a mystery box that's bound to surprise you.

The album once again features Yogev Gabay on drums, Lior Ozeri on Bass, and Joathan Hazan on Lead and Rhythm Guitar, and also features guest perfomances from Giri Shubaraniam (Tabla on 'Full Circle') and Erez Aviram (Keys, Synth and orchestral arrangements on Luminous).

'Living Paradox' was co-produced by Jonathan Hazan, Yonatan Kossov and Yogev Gabay, engineered and mixed by Yonatan Kossov and mastered by Matej Gobec.

The Violent Heart

Though it's an instrumental E.P., 'The Violent Heart' is a story - an internal journey of a person struggling with traumatic past memories, and their implications and effect on their present. Each song deals with a different aspect of this person's story as they deal with different feelings and situations.

With this release, Comb tries to challenge the common trends and tropes that current instrumental prog records exhibit, setting out to make a record that's raw, collaborative, fluid and dynamic - one that embraces imperfection and spontaneity, tightness and accessibility.

While all music was written by Jonathan Hazan, the players were given free reign to rewrite and reinterpret their parts as they see fit. This collaborative process allowed Gabay and Ozeri to fully express themselves and pour their own unique style and influences into the songs.

The E.P. also features guest solos from Alon Tamir (project RnL, on the song Past Tense) and Ben Azar (Marty Friedman, on the song Parallax).

'The Violent Heart' was recorded at Bardo studios in Tel Aviv, co-produced, engineered and mixed by Yonatan Kossov and Mastered by Jens Bogren.
